Upgrade Site Installation

 

 

Starting out clean is the best way of course as always when possible, upgrading requires a little more planning and consideration but is very possible as well.

 

Site Upgrade Installation:

 

 

Prepare your server

 

Backup your existing MOF files

 

 

Please follow these instructions to properly setup Inventory Manager on your server. It's easy.

 

1. Download the installation package from DudeWorks website: www.dudeworks.com

 

2. Extract setup files from the downloaded archive. Use WinZip or another ZIP software.

 

3. No uninstall of the previous version is required.

 

4. Run setup.exe on your top level primary site server and follow the instructions.

 

5. Run Configuration Manager Console.

 

6. Drop down the Computer Management node and click the Inventory Manager node in the console.

 

7. View the rules list and delete all custom rules that were based on your custom MOF edits

 

8.   Open the Recycle Bin and delete all the rules from there.

 

9. Review your custom MOF's and decide which rules you want to add back.

 

10. Use Inventory Manager to create new rules.

 

11. Using your backup MOF's, import each custom data MOF separately into Inventory Manager using the Import MOF wizard.
